About Mountain Coach (Tom Wilkinson)

I love meeting people from all over the world, and I make it my mission to provide safe, memorable alpine experiences for my clients, especially families or groups worried about heading out into the mountains. I have been exploring the European alps as an ultra runner (e.g. UTMB), climber (e.g. Matterhorn) and mountaineer for over 15 years and the British mountains for even longer. I speak French (having lived in the alps and attained a fluency-level diploma), in addition to basic Italian and German - useful languages for Switzerland!

In my former life, I spent 25 years in a full-time executive career in business that started in IBM and progressed through to being CEO of a global healthcare company, a role I held for 8 years. It allowed me to live in 6 different countries, travel much of the world and gain a good grasp of how life works! The end goal had always been to morph into a better balance of life that involved guiding in the mountains. Now in my late 40s, it's a great balance as I love sharing with clients the stunning places that have captured my imagination and developed my passion for the Alps. More often than not, it ignites a lifelong love of the mountains for my clients too!

I am married with two teenage children and two beautiful dogs. My wife and I have experienced the challenges of travel with children and understand only too well parental anxieties about walking in the Alps!
