This route is runs along one of the first and most famous alpine mountain marathons. It has plenty of options for stopovers for refreshments or accommodation in mountain huts, it is a fantastically accessible route and can be done by adults and families in good condition. Mountain Coach will work with you to adjust it to YOUR needs.
Generally, we will pass by the following remarkable sites as we move around the tour:
The Susanfe Pass, the highest point of the hike at 2,494 metres
The Auberge de Salanfe on the Salanfe reservoir
The Cabane de Susanfe
The Auberge de Chindonne
The Antème Lakes
The Pas d’Encel passage, equipped with chains (very easy)
ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation along mountain trails is nearly always in alpine huts, typically called, 'auberges', 'refuges', or 'cabanes'. They provide dormatory (shared) rooms and outstandingly good food and refreshments, even for those of us with specialist dietary requirements. Sometimes huts also provide private rooms - enquire if this is of interest to you, subject to availability and surcharge.
The core package includes 4 nights with full-board in dormitories (but Mountain Coach tailored to each group)
Full board means breakfast, picnic lunch and dinner
On request, the tour can be customised (to 3 nights)
The main route is shown in the map below, but usually routes are slightly adjusted to your needs, for example including or excluding a particular land feature such as a lake, peak or pass.
